Silly Girl!

My silly girl has a tendency to say things backwards. She has always done this. Sometimes she says hot for cold or vice versa.... Lately she has been saying one thing that had me scratching my head trying to figure out why in the work she would say be after the word cause. If I ask her a why question she always answers, "Cause be....." I thought it was cute but couldn't figure it out until one day when I was telling a friend that she always says be after cause. Oh! BECAUSE!!! Silly girl is getting he word backwards again! It doesn't matter how many times I have her repeat because (which she always does properly), she continues to say cause be.

Who's a big girl???

That's right!! Emma is!

Emma did NOT want to use the big potty. She liked diapers. Finally mommy decided to deal with pee on the floor and put panties on her. 3 accidents and 2 days later she is officially potty trained (for peeing only)!

Go Emma!!

Happy Easter!

Emma had a great Easter this year. She got to meet the Easter Bunny 2 times, once at daycare and once at the egg hunt at the Country Club. Emma told me, "Emma scared of bunny" so we didn't get any good pictures with the Easter Bunny. She got to dye eggs 3 times, once at school, once with Mommy and then with Nana, Papa and Mommy She also had 3 egg hunts, one at school, one at the country club and one in Nana and Papa's yard. She got a bubble mower from the Easter bunny along with she treats. Emma doesn't like chocolate so she got lots of jellybeans and other non chocolate types of candy.

Halloween

These are the best I can do for pictures. A friend took some much better ones but she is getting married tomorrow and sending me pictures right at the moment is (understandably) not at the top of her list.
Emma was Jojo the Clown from Playhouse Disney. There was also a hat with red yard hair but she really freaked out over that so I didn't push it. It definitely would have looked better with the hat but that's okay. She had a good time. We went to an event at a church and then she trick or treated at a couple of neighbors who were looking forward to seeing her.

Emma's "lovey"

Emma has decided in the last couple of weeks that one specific shirt of mine is her new "security blanket" or "lovey" as they can be called. She used to call it "mama girt" (mama shirt). In the past week her speech has gotten a lot better, the pronuciation. Yesterday we were in a store and Emma decided she wanted the shirt. She starts yelling, "mama shit, mama shit" over and over. I'm very proud that she is saying her words better but it was pretty embarrassing that she was yelling that! We left the store pretty quickly after that!

Water

As we were driving to Florida we had to cross the Howard Franklin Bridge, which is about a 4 mile long bridge. Emma was amazed by all the water and was looking out the window say, "I see water! Big water!" over and over. Eventually we got across the bridge and it wasn't 2 seconds after you couldn't see the water anymore I hear her in the back saying, "Where'd water go?" It was really cute! She sounded very concerned about it as well.

Videos from the beach.

Vacation in Florida

We spent 3 days in Florida. Emma had a blast at the beach. She liked it so much she had to have a tantrum when it was time to go home! She got to see her Grandfather for the 3rd time. She still won't let him touch her, maybe next year. She is so shy with strangers. I don't have to worry about her going with a stranger anyways! I would hear her screaming a mile away if a stranger even talked to her! Here are some pictures of her trip.

She loved chasing the birds. As hard as she tried she never caught one!

Having a fit because we were leaving.

Superbaby! She has decided that this shirt is her "secutiry blanket". I was wearing the shirt one night and she kept asking for it so I took it off and gave it to her and she has been carrying it around ever since!

Vocabulary

Emma's vocabulary is booming right now. She seems to be learning new words everyday and she will repeat anything I say. She is also very polite. She says "thank you" unprompted pretty consistantly. I will hand her a drink and she says, "Thank you mama." It is so sweet. Every once in a while she will bust out a whole sentence of 7 words or so and I'm amazed. She tries to sing songs and even the ABC song. She only gets A, C and Z but hey, that's a start!

We have been having a hard time with please. She never says please unless I ask her today. Tonight she came up to me and said "Please, mama" while also saying it in sign language. I had no idea what she wanted though! She just said please. So I got up and she said "car!" Her car was stuck and she needed help so she said please. She's getting the hang of it!

I can't wait until I can understand everything she is saying. At this point a lot of what she says still sounds like gibberish to me. She is getting better everyday!

2nd Birthday Bash!

Emma had a great 2nd birthday party. It was small but she had a great time. We took the kids swimming for a little bit then back to the house for cake and ice cream and presents. The kiddos had a great time swimming.

Then we came back for cake and ice cream. I had not taught Emma anything about candles or how to blow them out and did think she would. Well, she was blowing the candle out as soon as we put it down in front of her! She did a great job!

Then it was present time! She got lots of great presents! She didn't have many that she was still playing with because the ones she had were too young for her so all these new ones are great! She is having so much fun playing with all her new toys!

Here is a cute video...

Emma had a great day and mama is exhausted!

Ear Surgery

This morning we arrived at the Greenville Hospital System Outpatient Surgery Center at 6:30. Emma was pretty happy in the waiting room. I expected her to ask for milk since she gets that every morning as soon as she wakes up but she was fine without it. I think it helped that as soon as I woke her up I put her in the car so she didn't have her normal routine to think about the milk.

We got called back to Pre -Op. Emma was not a happy camper. She screamed at everything they did to her. Nothing was painful, weighing her, taking her pulse, etc. The anesthesiologist came in and talked to me for a minute and then her Dr. talked to us as well. About that time my friend Stacy should up for support which was really nice. She took some pictures so I could share them with you. Emma wouldn't let me put her down so I wasn't able to take pictures like I thought I would.

Not a happy baby. :(

Emma was doing her best to convince me to take her home. She kept saying Bye bye and blowing kisses to all the Dr's and nurses. Too bad it didn't work! I had to hand her off to the nurse anyways. That was the worst moment.

They took me to the Recovery Room and less than 10 minutes later her Dr. came to talk to me and told me everything went great. She had some fluid in her right ear but it wasn't too bad. Her left ear was a different story. It was bad. He said there was a lot and it was really thick, like a gummy bear. He got it all out. They took me too her then. She was just waking up, kind of in and out. As soon as the nurse took off all the monitors I picked her up and was sat in a rocking chair while she woke up. She got a big sippy cup of juice and drank every bit of it! Within 10 minutes she was awake and good to go.

Her surgery was at 7:30 and we were home by 8:30 where she destroyed the living room playing with all her toys! She went for her nap a little early today but other than that she is 100%!

Favorite Summer Activity

This kid LOVES the water! We go a couple of days a week in the morning before her nap to the pool and she splashes and swims around for an hour or so. This makes for a really good nap in the afternoon!
